In 2K Towers, players choose a WWE Superstar to compete against a wide range of WWE Superstar opponents across a number challenging Towers. There is no penalty for leaving the Tower and resuming progress later. Steps: In a Steps Tower, each match can be conquered one at a time as your progress is saved along the way.Quitting early or losing a match resets your progress back to zero. Gauntlet: In a Gauntlet Tower, you need to complete it entirely in one session. There are two types of Towers in WWE 2K19 that play differently from one another:

But, these gripes aren't anywhere near enough to keep me from loving this game, which is something I couldn't have said with previous WWE 2K games, and I absolutely recommend it to any wrestling fan who hasn't checked it out yet, because even if you're a bit skeptical after the previously mentioned disappointing games, there's no need to be, as this is a huge step in the right direction. In WWE 2K19's new Towers Mode, you compete in a gauntlet of matches against a series of WWE Superstars and Legends as opponents. Each Tower features a unique theme, with different match types, rules, win conditions and stipulations.Įach Tower also features its own set of goals, such as reaching a specific score and simply reaching the end of tower. You earn VC rewards by completing them. I get that many people, especially nowadays, want to focus more on current superstars, but, as a WWE Legends fan, there's a bit less than what I was hoping for in terms of that. The roster, while still great, has a few less legends than previous years, the commentary is still kind of bad, the soundtrack, in my opinion, isn't as good as 2K18s, and a few classic arenas have been removed as well. However, this still isn't without it's flaws. It really seems like 2K and Yukes have listened to their fans, because this just might be the best WWE 2K game on the 8th gen systems so far. The visuals, while not drastically different from 2K18, is more detailed this time around, the gameplay is much faster and much more fun, the payback system is pretty great to see a return here, the roster is mostly amazing, the my career mode is actually fantastic, the return of 2K showcase mode is also amazing, the universe has more options and actually feels like an evolution from WWE 2K17, unlike 2K18s, the creation suite is amazing and better than ever with the ability to make a MITB briefcase and a Minecraft-esque wrestler, and the overall presentation is top notch. Not to say this game is perfect, as there are still a few problems, but the improvements made here make it a mostly amazing experience. This game finally breaks that trend, as it is one of the best WWE games since the 7th generation. WWE 2K17 with the lack of any great modes, and WWE 2K18 with the lack of any wow factor or improvements, which sort of made the experience less great and more stale than what one would hope. (I give this an 8.6/10, but I guess 9 works fine)Īfter the disappointing last few games, it really seemed that each subsequent game took away at least one or two things that made previous games fun.
